Nanoscience

Nanoscience - an area of research across all disciplinary borders

Rarely has there been a branch of science such as nanoscience, which opens up so many possibilities and opportunities in such a short time while bringing together so many different scientific disciplines. Nanoscience has implications for chemistry, biology and physics. It is defined as the scientific study, exploration and use of structures that, in at least one dimension, are smaller than 100 nanometers. To get an idea of what that means, keep in mind that a human hair is about 80,000 nanometers wide.

Nanoscience – a science of the smallest parts

It should be granted that it is not possible to see such a small structure with the naked eye. Even an ordinary microscope is not enough to visualize nanoparticles or nanostructures. For this purpose, one needs an electron microscope, a scanning tunneling microscope or an atomic force microscope. One peculiarity of such small particles - and this is precisely the approach behind nanoscience – is that they change their original properties on the chemical and the physical level. Consequently, products that are partly composed of nanoparticles can have different physical properties compared to other products composed of bulk materials of the same chemical composition.

Nanoscience – areas of application and future orientation

For products of nanoscience technology, there are two important areas of application. One is the mostly commercially operated branch that designs, researches and improves nano products for commercialization in business and industry. The other is the part that focuses on research and work in the biomedical area. Here, methods have been implemented that can result in the fighting of diseases with much greater sustainability and stronger effect directly inside the patient’s body once, in a few years, the exploration and testing phases will be completed. Thus, by using nanoparticles, one could target cancer cells directly with the appropriate medication and thereby enhance the drug’s effect by several fold.

Nanoscience – a young discipline preparing itself to answer the questions of the 21st century

Nanotechnology is referred to as a key technology of the 21st century. This is primarily because of the expectation that this technology will answer many pressing issues of our century. Nanoscience is what advances nanotechnology a little more each day. We at PlasmaChem are aware of the size of this task shared by every company in the field of nano industry. That is why we invest a large portion of our resources into research and development in addition to the sale of such products so that nanoscience will turn the hopes placed in it into reality. For progress. For health. And for enhancing the well-being and quality of life of everyone on the planet.
