CdSe/ZnS Quantum Dots, powder, hydrophobic. Readily soluble in hexane, heptane, toluene, chloroform, tetrahydrofuran, pyridine. Not soluble in water, alcohols, ethers.
CdSe spherical core capped with epitaxial ZnS shell. The surface hydrophobic layer consists of mostly trioctylphosphine oxide.

Dissolution and sampling: Put an aliquot of chloroform, hexane or toluene (ca. 2-3 ml) into the vial with nanodots. Dissolve them under gentle stirring. Transfer the solution with pipette into the graduated cylinder or tube. Repeat the procedure in order to minimize the losses of product on the walls and bottom of vial. Bring the solution volume to the necessary level with chosen solvent. The concentration of nanodots may be easily recalculated from the final volume and the supplied amount of nanodots. Store the solution in the sealed glass vial in the dark at room temperature. Do not store the solutions in plastic tubes, because of possible organic solvent evaporation through plastic walls.
